Week 6: Massage-Induced Visions: Reimagining Education

I thought vacation would help me relax, but alas, there's no escaping a vacation from my own mind!

Sure, I sipped cold drinks in a pool on a hot day (check!), and yes, I endured a cringe-worthy sales pitch cleverly disguised as “totally not a timeshare” in exchange for a free massage (totally worth it, though).

But between the sun and spa treatments, inspiration struck unexpectedly. After listening to a podcast featuring a company I genuinely admire and use frequently, curiosity led me (still in my bathing suit—why not?) straight to their website, where I stumbled upon the perfect job for me. I took a spontaneous leap and applied right then. Interestingly enough, the position vanished from their site the very next day. A cosmic sign? Time will tell—I’ll keep you posted!

And speaking of visions, during that massage, I had an epiphany about the future of education in the age of AI. With the world in chaos—wars, famines, poverty, environmental crises—I started questioning what we truly need from our education system. Kids who excel in math? Possibly. But don’t we urgently need education that prioritizes character, empathy, and global cooperation above all?

I imagine I'm not the first to envision a global classroom—surely others have started similar journeys—but perhaps it's time we boldly embrace AI throughout primary education, developing lesson plans based on the current world conflicts, needs, trends, etc. . And can we please finally drop the obsession with grades? Honestly, who really cares whether you got an A or a B in fourth-grade math? Let's replace report cards with something more meaningful: empathy, critical thinking, and collaborative skills. After all, life's biggest tests aren't graded on a curve!

Speaking of beauty and inspiration, I also had the chance to capture this stunning picture of a natural wonder: a cenote in the breathtakingly beautiful country of Mexico. The vibrant nature, rich culture, and kindness of the people there reminded me how interconnected we truly are—and how much we have to learn from one another.

Back home, the community work continues. Navigating tricky personalities, mixed motivations, and, yes, the sticky mess of money is challenging—possibly one of the toughest things I've tackled yet—but profoundly rewarding in unexpected ways.

Next week also brings me face-to-face with financial and legal matters alongside my mom and brother. It won't be fun, but it's necessary and important. On a lighter note, I'll be experimenting with personalized chatbots for educational purposes—stay tuned to see how that unfolds!

Life keeps moving, with inspiration, uncertainty, family, and creativity colliding at every turn. Let's see what's next.
